Alupak joins new European alliance to boost recycling performance of small aluminium packaging
Alupak is proud to announce its participation in a newly established European alliance initiated by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) and Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). The alliance brings together leading companies from across the entire value chain with one clear objective: to significantly improve the collection, sorting and high-quality recycling of small aluminium packaging, including coffee capsules.
With the forthcoming requirements of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), strengthening the recycling performance of small-aluminium formats has become more important than ever. While aluminium is already one of the most recycled materials in Europe, smaller packaging items—such as capsules, foils, lids and small semi-rigid containers—still face challenges in being consistently sorted and recovered across all regions.
By joining this initiative, Alupak is committed to contributing its long-standing expertise in aluminium coffee capsules and small-format packaging, helping to identify bottlenecks in the waste management chain and develop practical, scalable solutions.

The alliance—bringing together 16 companies including manufacturers, converters, suppliers, and major brand owners—will officially be launched on 1 January 2026. Alupak looks forward to contributing actively to this collective effort and strengthening the role of aluminium as a fully recyclable, future-proof packaging material.
