Life in the Bern region
Bern’s Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. The city also has much to offer as a place to live. No other city in Switzerland offers such a wonderful blend of culture, leisure and enjoyment as Bern. Enjoyment is easy in the unique setting of the old town. Float down the Aare after work, stop at one of the cozy cafés or restaurants, shop under the arcades, visit museums or the municipal theater.
The scenic area around Berne presents itself in a variety of ways. Large wooded areas, idyllic villages, lakes, valleys, hills and mats – an El Dorado for walkers, hikers, bikers and winter sports enthusiasts.
